I LOVE GMARKET!!!

I checked my Gmarket Account and noticed I'm already an SVIP member!!! I have no idea what the S is. It could be SUPER VIP. lol. Anyway, I'll show you a screenshot of my membership.

Each membership status gives you coupons you can use. You can also see the requirements for each membership grade.

Also, Gmarket is giving away coupons. Just click on the "Always Discount Coupon" Banner on the left side of the homepage. And you will be brought to the coupons page.

You can try to click on the topmost coupons everyday. You can get 10% off or W2,000 off on your purchases.

Going back to my original topic, here are my hauls. Please be patient as this post has a lot of pictures. Anyway, here they are. Enjoy!!!

So these are my Gmarket Haul. There's some coming in today and I'll show them to you next time.

Thank you. (=

This is actually a late post. I placed the order November 25th and received my orders I think after a week. It was my biggest haul so far. I've ordered about 18 items and the package was really big and heavy.

So being the giddy me, I immediately went to the post office as soon as I read on the EMS tracking that the package is already at the post office.

Here goes my haul. I'm sorry but I wasn't able to take all the pictures of the items. But I assure you they were all packed carefully and they all came out perfectly, except for one item which I will be telling you guys later.

The packaging. It is quite big and heavy.

The box inside the big box. Since the items came from the same seller, all the items are packed in a box. Then Gmarket put that box in a bigger EMS box. Those pens and white notebooks are freebies. Be sure to check the freebies included when you order and if you particularly like a freebie from a list the seller is giving away, you may write this down on the Note to the Seller part when you order.

These are some of the items I got from this haul. I got that Honey Plenty Wallet for my mum. I put some money inside and gave it to her on Christmas. She really loved it.

Anyway, I scrutinize each piece I received from Gmarket and stumbled upon one diary which has a torn page.

Below are the pictures I took which I send to Gmarket as proof of the damage.

I sent these pictures to Gmarket and they immediately informed the seller about the damaged item. After a day, Gmarket emailed me and told me that the seller will issue a refund and that I do not need to send back the item to them. Gmarket has been really helpful in addressing the issue. A couple of minutes later, my Paypal account received the refund. It was really hassle free as Gmarket will be the one doing the complaining/talking to the seller for you.

I must say Gmarket has done a great job for the 2-3 years I've been buying from them. They really try to help you all the time. You can readily connect to Gmarket using Facebook, just search for Gmarket Global. And the easiest way is to use their Customer Service at the Gmarket Website.

More posts and hauls later. Happy Holidays everyone.

Gmarket has been an amazing shopping haven for me. Though I've only ordered a couple of times, the experience was such a breeze. Gmarket is just like Ebay. It houses thousands of sellers. The main difference between the two is that on Gmarket, all your orders will be delivered first to Gmarket warehouse and then Gmarket will deliver it to you via EMS.

So first let me walk you through the hustle and bustle (and your future addiction) of shopping at Gmarket.

You open the Gmarket page (http://global.gmarket.co.kr). It's in English so it's easier to navigate. You just replace global with www to get the Korean version. Anyway, you'll see this screen.

For you to be able to put items on your cart, you have to register first. You will see the Register link on top of the page just above the search button.

Then you will land on this page.

I suggest you use Internet Explorer when registering because Firefox doesn't work well with this part of the process. Gmarket works best with Internet Explorer.

Then you fill up the form. Be sure to click the ID Availability button. When you hit this, you will get a popup telling whether the ID is available or not. In firefox, the OK button doesn't work whereas in IE, it works. So stick to IE on this part.

You may be asking why there are two passwords being asked. The first one is for your main Gmarket account while the second one is for the G account (as stated on the form) which is used to check your Cash Balance, Gcash, Mileage, Gstamps, etc. which I'm going to discuss later on. Please use both numbers and letters on your password. Again, click the availability buttons when you see it. And of course, tick the box stating you agree on their terms and conditions. Hit the submit button and then you'll be temporarily registered. For you to be able to fully register at Gmarket, you have to check your email to complete your registration. Once you've done those stuff, you can now start hunting for a good item.

The Gmarket interface is very easy to navigate. You can click on the any of the changing pictures in the homepage if something catches your attention. You can also check out the bestsellers on different countries (usually located on the left part). You can also use the drop down menu to browse the items available. Or you can use the search engine to look for a particular item.

For example, you're looking for some cool tees. I typed tees on the search bar and then hit the search button. I was given this page.

You can narrow down the search result using the categories listed or you can just go ahead and browse through the page.
The search result page shows you the following:
  • Item - This part shows you the picture of the products you can buy from this seller.
  • Price - Global Gmarket uses both US Dollar (USD) and Korean Won (KRW) for the price of the item. The price of the item is not always the price of all the products. This is usually the average price of the products if not the lowest price. Some items are priced higher than the given price and this is indicated with a (+xxxx KRW) next to the product name. Sometimes, you may see (-xxxx KRW) meaning the item is less than the given price.
  • Delivery Fee - This is the local shipping fee. All items come from the different sellers' warehouses which will then be delivered to the Gmarket warehouse. Some sellers offer free delivery with any order or when you reach a certain amount however, some sellers ask for a local delivery fee usually around 2,500 KRW.
  • Special Offer - This tells you whether the seller gives discounts, gifts, gstamps, miles, etc. when you purchase an item.
  • Seller - Of course, it's the name of the seller.
  • Rating - Just like in ebay, Gmarket gives you a chance to leave a feedback on the item/s you purchased. And their service/products are measured through the rating scale.

Okay, so let's go ahead and click the highlighted part on the list. You will see the listings from 게 스트.
Wait for the page to completely load for you to be able to see all the items. If your ISP is fast, then you don't need to wait a few minutes for the page to load, unlike for those of us who have crappy internet connection, we do need patience. hehe. Most of the item pages are using tons of images that's why it takes a while to load.

Okay. So here's how it looks.

So the top page shows you some of the pictures. Next to it is the Price, Extra Discount and the Discounted Price. Please note that you have to have a discount coupon before you can enjoy the discounted price. If you don't have those, then you get the indicated Price. listed in Red You can also see if gifts or other special offers are available, Manufacturer/Country of Origin, Delivery Fee (Free for this seller,) Order Quantity, Domestic Orders (Tick this if you want the item to be shipped within Korea. Sometimes, you can see that Domestic Orders is grayed out. This means, the seller does not ship internationally or does not cater to international buyers. You can use Korean Shopping Services when you stumble upon this.), and then the dropdown menu of the items you can buy. Most of the time, there are several dropdown menus on which you have to select to be able to place your order. You may only use this part if you're only going to purchase items found on each dropdown menu. However, if you're ordering a few, you may want to scroll down and get like a tab on the right side, giving you more options. Google Translate comes handy in this part. Also, just above the Buy Now and Add to Cart button, you will see some details about the seller. You can also see a CS (customer service) button with a thumbs-up icon. Just hover your cursor over this button to check what it means.

And just to show you how the page looks like when there are other options, here's a screenshot.

So this seller gives mileage, gstamp and a gift. Also, if you buy more than 10 items from this seller, you get a 20% discount on top of the Discounted Price if you use a discount coupon.
Next is the Delivery Fee highlighted in red. It says you have to pay 2,500 KRW once you order. On the dropdown box, you will be given a choice to pay the delivery fee once you order or you pay for it after the item is delivered to the Gmarket warehouse. I usually pay for it once I order. If you notice on this seller's page, the Domestic Order has already been ticked. This means, again, that the seller does not ship internationally. Their items will only be delivered within Korea. Even though all the items are sent first to Gmarket, this kind of seller will not allow their items to be shipped internationally. When this happens, you can opt for Korean Shopping Service. These are individuals who will order the items for you, have the items shipped to them in Korea, and then, they will ship the items to you anywhere in the world. They do this for a minimal fee. So this is the best option if you really want an item that's only being shipped locally.

Okay. So you scroll down and look for an item you want to buy. Take note of the item name (I highlighted it on the screenshot.

To start looking for the item on the list, click on the highlighted tab on the right side of the page. You may also click on the picture to get more details/features of the item just like this:
Sometimes, when you click on the item, the popup address bar will give you an idea as to what the product name is. But for this one, we don't have that. So we will just take note that this item is under Letter F.

So you see the menu but you're clueless as to what the Korean menu is saying. Get help from your friendly Google Translate. Just copy the link on the address bar of the main Gmarket page and paste it on the box found in Google Translate page. Choose Korean to English. Then hit translate. Most of the translatable Korean words are now translated into English as seen on the screenshot below.

Scroll down again to the part where you see the tab on the right side. Click on it and start looking for the item. Looking at the item name, it gives us an idea that we should look for a Letter F on the menu list. At this point, you have to be really patient because sometimes, it's really hard to find the item you're looking for. But if patience is not on your list, then you can ask the help of Gmarket. More about that later.

So I've gone through the list and I found a letter F which describes my item. It says F:) Viva 80 eonbalreonseu tank top dress T-test (-3,000 KRW). It sounds like it's the item I want because the tee has Viva 80's craze printed in the front.

Next problem is, I don't know which one from the list to choose. There are 5 listings with Viva 80 on it. The only difference is the color. So how do I find the color? Remember when you click the image, you get more details of the item. Scroll down and look for the color part. Click on the image below to see a bigger picture. I matched the color on the Item Details page to the colors on the list.

You can always zoom your browser (just press Ctrl while scrolling your mouse wheel) to make the screen look bigger so that your eyes won't be strained from matching the Korean words. Choose the items you want to purchase and fill up the remaining drop down menus. Sometimes, you don't want to use the other drop down. So what you do is choose the "None" option on the list.

If you want to add another item which can't be found on the other dropdown menus, just click the Add button and you will be given another Cart item. If you changed your mind and don't want to order another one or you've clicked Add button a lot of times, just tick the box before the Cart Item number and click the Delete button. Once you're done choosing the products you want to purchase from this seller, just hit the Complete button and you will be redirected to the top of the page where you can click the Add to Cart button. You will receive a popup stating the items are being added to your cart. You will also be asked if you want to continue shopping or you want to go to your shopping cart. If you want to look for other items, click the Continue to Shop button. Otherwise, click the Shopping Cart to purchase the items on it.

Let's say you've already finished shopping and you want Gmarket to process your order. You wanna go to your Shopping Cart. This is how your shopping cart will look like. The first column shows the items you have purchased. The pictures will still show the default picture set by the seller but the items you're buying are listed in light orange. The second column (blue highlights) shows the Given Price of the item. The third column (red highlights) is the amount to be added or subtracted from the Given Price. If you look at the first three items on my list, they are all less than the Given Price. Taking the first item on the list, it's price is only 9,900 KRW. The fourth column shows the quantity and the estimated weight of the item. Next is the Benefit or the additional discounts given by the seller. The first two items are subject to another 5,000 KRW discount. The amount highlighted with a heart is the total price of each item. And the last column states the local delivery fee. The first seller offers free delivery however the second seller asks for 2,500 KRW delivery fee. Now, since I ordered two items from a seller who asks for a delivery fee, I won't be charged two times. I will only be charged once since the seller will ship all the items I ordered from them only once.

There are also other options just below the list of your order. You can delete items you don't want, add items to your wishlist, save the items to your desktop or move them to domestic orders.

Then, you can select the country you want your order shipped to. As of the moment, EMS is the only shipping service Gmarket uses. Once you've chosen your country, Gmarket will give you the estimated shipping. You will also be given the total amount you have to pay for Gmarket to process your order. Review the details highlighted in yellow and when you're done and happy with it, place your order.

Note: If your order is way out of budget, you can select items on your shopping list to check the total amount you have to pay. Just click on the boxes beside each item, choose the country, and click Buy Selected Items Only Button. This will give you the total amount you have to pay for those selected items without the overseas shipping fee. This helps a lot because you won't have to keep deleting and adding to your cart.

So when you place your order, you will get this page:
Fill up the form. And be sure to tick the agreement box. Payment options for International buyers are using your Gaccount (cash balance), through Paypal or International Credit Card. If you use Paypal, you will then be redirected to Paypal for payment. If you're going to use International CC, another form will be shown below the payment options. You have to register first your credit card if it is not Visa or Mastercard. You can do this by clicking the Register Card button, fill up the form and you have to attach them the front image of your credit card. Once you've chosen your payment method, click the Pay Button and you're done! :D

On my next post, I will be discussing how you can track your Gmarket Order. But if you're giddy, go to My Gmarket, select Shopping List, and then click Tracking. More images and walkthroughs later. Have fun with your first Gmarket experience.
